Day tripping at Lolla

Its been a while since i've written in here so I suppose
I'll make it snappy just to catch up quickly..
After Pitchfork, the next big thing for me was Lollapalooza, in Chicago.

This is my 3rd time going, and it' always a fun time. This year, as well as last year, I went with
Leah. A LOT of people we knew were going this year (Claire, Amy, Liz, Luke, Sam, Derek, Kelly, Lauren, Ali, Geoff, Luke.. maaannnnyy more ) We didn't seem to run int
o people that much but its almost easier so there are less conflicts. So anyways...

Day 1: Work up ate my YUMMY left over french toas
t i got the night before at the Pick Me Up Cafe.. sooo good... I ate there alone... ha it was sad... and I got hit on by these weird dudes on
the walk there, made me a little skeptical and I wanted to turn around, but I kept on walking...
but back to day one... So it rained ALL day.... I had an unbrella, but i figured i might as well get a little wet and use it later... well I just shouldnt ave brought it at all, never used it once...
I was soaking the entire day.. Wasnt dry until 10 p.m....

I started the day flying solo because leah was STILL in Wisconsin with her boi! But I got to enjoy Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes in the mean while. Who both sounded incrediable. They were still able make goosebumps jump under my skin.

Bon Iver

Fleet Foxes
At the end of Bon Iver's set, I had somehow ran into Liz, Claire and all those peeps, so I was hanging out with them, and then Leah had contacted me FINALLY!! So i asked the security guard if i could hop over the fence, but all he said was "Turn around" so i was like uuhhhh... nooo... he wanted to pick me up and put me over the gate, but I was hesitant because i was wearing a skirt.. but it was the only way out so I obeyed his request, and i turned around. 1..2...3.. WOOO i flew into the air. He nearly launched me! It was great I'd have to say... best way out. But once over the gait, I was on my way to accompany Leah. SHe was inside waiting where Of Montreal was going to preform in about an hour, I ran over to the stage they were a
ssigned to, and I amazingly weaseled my way through the crowd and got up in front right next to leah. It was great.

Of Montreal begins. Amazing as usual. They are one of my favorite bands to see live ever. I liked seeing them at a venue better, because they had a lot more props, and it was just a lot more insane, but it was still awesome.

Their set was coming to an end and some lucky bastard got Kevin Barnes's guitar! Kevin just pointed at some kid and told the security guards to give it to them. Talk about lucky! They finished their set with some wild "beasts" surfing on the crowd on an inflatable raft, and then some stage craft dude jumped into the crowd. Leah was lucky enough to get a set list.. that had someone's footprint imprinted on. sooo jealous. I had asked one of Of Montreal's crew members to get me a set list so he did but he handed it to the bitch next to me gkjdflgkj :( but thats okay.. Next time!

After that we decided to get some grub. Lollapalooza every year has this stand that has awesome gyro's It was actually the first time I had ever has one was the year before this. Unfortunately they were out and only had beef or something, so I decided to get TEMPTATION ICE CREAM! The best ice cream ever! There was this guy working the stand who totally had a crush on me, but it was probably just a joke. He was really funny, I'd go there everyday and he'd always have something wild to say, making me laugh of blush, or something. He said he will be waiting there next year, so we'll see! haha

But off in the distance I heard Band of Horses playing "Funeral" so i stopped everything i was doing and followed each note to their stage. I thought i was going to miss them due to conflict in the schedule, but turns out i got to hear their last 2 songs.

After the foot sank into our bellies, we hearded to Kid Cudi and he finished off our night.

Day 2: Being very hyped to see Animal Collective DJ set, we got going early, and waited for a good 2 hours for their set so Leah and I could be up in front. In the means time we saw:
Moneypenny, which was very entertaining. It was 2 girl DJ's we had 4 lady dancers. They sort of just did their own thing, but one girl started breakdancing. She was okay, I felt I could have done better, but w/e she was the one on stage.
After that there were a few other people that weren't very impressive, so I clearly do not remember their names..
Then it was time for Animal Collective's DJ set. It was very confusing because we weren't certain if they had started or not. We just thought it was the in between music playing.. so no one was really getting pumped up. It was just a weird thing. They did have this guy come out on stage and start dancing though which was pretty cool. He was a complete hippy and he danced and danced and danced. He probably had to be rushed to the ER afterwards because it was about 90+ degrees and very humid..
After that we were pretty exhausted and disappointed, so we just wandered around and laid down until TV on the Radio was about to play and we headed on up towards the front.
They were awesome!
I never knew what the band mates had looked like so when I saw them I was a bit surprised. I am always surprised by the appearance of a musical artist. If I don't know what they look like I get this image in my head based off of their voice, and I am always completely wrong. But regardless of their appearance or any of those meaningless details, they sounded great, and I'm really glad I got to see them, and would like to see them again, but more 1 on 1.
After that, then came... the one and only.... Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Karen O always puts on a great show.. Of course she couldnt do it without Nick Zinner, their Guitarist / Keyboardist, and the drummer Brian Chase. Ive loved the Yeah Yeah Yeahs since I was about 12? Ever since their Maps song made it big on MTV haha. My obsession for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, started out then, but then faded, I had lost their downloaded music when our computer crashed.. but was reunited when I had bought their CD maybe 4 years later? The obsession started again, faded out, and came again. I will always love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and I will see them every chance I get. Her outfits are always worth seeing.

Moving on now..

Day 3:

Bat for Lashes, Dan Deacon, Passion Pit, Boys Noize, and mstrkrft.

Never really listened to Bat for Lashes before this, but after seeing them I start, they are quite different from most bands I've heard, and I like their style

Dan Deacon. One of the craziest crowds I've been in.. People crowd surfing left and right. Dan Deacon constructing the crowd. It was great. They had like 93843909re people on stage.

Passion Pit. Never listened to them much before but they were awesome! We ran into our LA friend that we saw like everywhere. The crowd was pretty rowdy, leah got her head rammed into the railing ... but its okay it pissed her off so much that we left their set early, and she plowed our way to the front for boys noize, and after that was mstrkrft.

ok im sock of writting. boys noizes n mstrkrft = AWESOME
